On December 29th, I ordered Assassin's Creed (a video game) from BestBuy.com. It shipped the next day, December 30th, via the United States Postal Service. On January 5th, I was in the post office in my town. However, because my mom recently moved, all mail that comes to my address via USPS, it get's redirected to her new address. However, I still live there, so I figured it would be delivered to my mom's house (about a 20 minute drive away).
So I checked up on the status of the package (using usps.com), and saw that it was forwarded to the new address, and that was fine. I figured I'd just get it from my mom the next time I see here. After an agonizing seven days, the status was updated on usps.com -- it is in FINDLAY, OHIO!!! A notice was left at the address for the package to be picked up at the post office. And it was finally delivered on the 18th.
I don't know how it got to Findlay, Ohio. My mom's address is in a small down about 20 minutes away from my address. If I would have to guess, I'd say that somebody else from my town moved to Findlay, Ohio, and somebody at my post office slapped the wrong redirect sticker on the package, and sent it to Ohio.
So basically, the future of my package rests in the hands of some stranger 400 miles away.
