TabbedIt's about 2 AM right now.

I just added another color to choose from. It's called 'tabbed', because the links at the top appear to be tabs. You wouldn't believe how long it took me to get it to work correctly. But i finally got it. :-D

I think this color is perhaps the best one yet. Though my opinion is perhaps a bit biased as i'm the creator. I've set it as the new default color. If you don't notice any difference in the color scheme of the site, just head on over to the colors page, scroll to the bottom, click on "Tabbed", click submit, and viola!

I always wanted to do a tabbed-style theme. It wasn't until recently that i've really tried. It required me to learn some more CSS. Though, i must admit that i got some of my inspiration for this theme from another website, newegg.com. If they think i got too much inspiration from their site, then they should just let me know, and i'll modify my design. I don't want to steal anybody's thunder. Though basically the only thing i based off their website is the colors.

I just recently acquired a new computing machine. Here are some specs:

Base Unit: Dell Dimension E510
Processor: Pentium D 820 2.8gHz
RAM: 1 GB DDR2 (2 512mb's)
HDD: 250 GB 7200rpm
Video card:ATI Radeon X300 SE 128mb
Drives: 16x DVD+/-RW Drive
Monitor: 19inch LCD (analog :-/ )

It's nothing super, but it'll do what i need it to do. I mean, i'm not going to be playing Oblivion, or Half Life or anything extraordinary on my computer. Just programming basically. And i didn't want to spend a ton of money on it. Even though, I didn't actually pay for it.

I'm super happy with it. It's about 4.5 zillion times better than my current PC, which is basically the cheapest computer you could buy in 2002. It's also really relatively quiet. It makes my old computer seem to sound like a vacuum cleaner. It's also much quicker. Though i'm a bit dissappointed that i missed out on Intel's new Core 2 chips. Though, it's not the end of the world, my new computer is fantastic, and i'm happy.

yesterday, there was a bug in my house. So i attempt to kill it. I couldn't crush it, so i go to get some bug spray. On the can of bug spray it says "Unscented". Which gives me the impression that there are other types of bug spray which are scented. Which makes me wonder why there would be scented insecticide. It's not something your supposed to smell, or inhale at all. If there is scented bug spray, what does it smell like? flowers? fruit? so that if i were to inhale toxic fumes, alteast my nose would be happy while i'm dying. If it would have any scent at all, it should be a terrible one, which might indicate that it is not good.

A week to two ago, i was watching TV, and saw a commercial. The advertised store was having a "Back to School" sale; which is just fine. But the odd thing was that it was a furniture store having the Back to School sale. Usually when a store has a 'Back to School' sale, they have stuff on sale which involves thing that kids might need to prepare for shool; notebooks, pens, pencils, backpacks, and so on. But furniture?Something fishy going on there.

it's pretty sad when you nearly oversleep for work. Maybe not if you have to wake up at 4:00 AM or something, but if you start work at 5:00 PM, and almost oversleep, then it's sad. That basically what i did yesterday. Woke up a little after four. I wasn't late though. I just didn't have any free time before work. I suppose that makes me a sad individual.

web crawling robots seem to be getting smarter.

They figured out how to leave comments on my website. I assume it was a robot and not a human being because the comment they left has nothing to do with my little post thing. If it was a human, i'd like to know who, and more importantly why.

I'll leave that comment there for now, just because i find it humorous. Perhaps even more humorous because it is my first comment ever, other than comments that i've left. Robots get more use out of the all the programming that i did, which was intended for humans. But whatever. I'll leave that comment there, but i'll remove all the links, because the may direct you to some shady sites. And spamming is certainly no way to advertise.

also, if this continues, i'll implement an robot-proof commenting system. Though i really don't want to because it'll be slightly more work for the human users. Not much though. So if robots should learn to read and understand english, then this a warning to y'all.

I think my hair has reached its point of marginal utility. When i first get it cut it looks nice. As it grows, it contunues to look nice, but not especially better. Then eventually, when it gets to a certain length, the satisfaction i get from things sprouting atop my head begins to decrease. Now i'm beginning to dislike my hair. Soon when it gets a bit longer, it'll be all messed up when i get out of bed. Then after that, the length of hair will add weight to it, so it won't stick up when i get up in the morning. Though i will look like Shaggy from scooby-doo.

I think i'll get it cut soon. ;-)

REM hey, i just found some my old True BASIC notes
REM BASIC is an acronym for Beginners All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code
REM that wasn't i the notes, i just remembered it because of my knack for acronyms :-)
REM the "REM" statements weren't in the notes either, that's from memory; rem is short for remark
PRINT "Enter some numbers: "
INPUT A
INPUT B
INPUT C
LET D = A + B + C
PRINT "The sum is "; D
END

i haven't used basic for quite some time. i'm not even sure that code would work. crazy stuff.

I work at a grocery store. And i've recently been "promoted" to a new position; working in dairy. Not really much of a "promotion", more like "moved where employees are needed." But anyways, regardless of the department, customers can be a pain sometimes. Let me describe a scene for you...

AJ (that's me) is placing products on the shelf. eggs, large grade A white eggs.
Elderly male customer walks up. Places some eggs on the shelf. he must've changed his mind about purchasing them.
The customer says to AJ, "I'm'a try the jumbo [eggs]." but aj didn't correctly hear it.
AJ replys, "What?"
Once again, "I'm'a try the jumbo".
and AJ is like, "Alright.?." slightly confused.
and the old man says "You don't know?!".
now AJ is really confused; and says "What?!?".
now the old man seems irritated and practically shouts "HOW MUCH ARE THE JUMBO?"
then i'm like "....oohhhh", and point to the price tag and say "one twenty-seven". Or some price that was there, i don't remember the price exactly. Then the old man stands there for a moment, thinking perhaps, then walks away eggless.

I'm not saying that i have perfect speech or anything like that, because i certainly don't. Far from it. But poorly spoken words can be easily misinterpreted as something else. So if the mind has a missing piece of information, it may place in what it thinks might make sense. Though that may be totally incorrect. That's what happened here.

I don't know what all this has to do with anything, or what the moral of the story is, but if you're ever in a grocery store and ask for help, enunciate.

Many people (or maybe only a few) who visit this site, may know that i work at a grocery store. And while i'm working people constantly ask me where various items are. And it gets old after a while. Though i must admit, the items, they're looking for aren't where logic might tell you where they'd be.

The most common items people ask me the location of are (in approx. order of frequency): Peanut Butter, Jelly, Marshmallow (all in aisle 12 ;-)), the bathroom (if that counts), Toothpicks, Ant traps, Aluminum foil, Plastic forks/spoon/knives, bags of Ice, Ziploc bags, Dish soap, and the list goes on and on.

So one day i thought about how i could reduce the number of questions. And I had the brilliant idea of having the customers ask a robot. Well, technically not a robot, but a computer program. Where the customer can just type in what they're looking for, and it'll display a map of the store with the location of what they're seeking highlighted.

So i begin to create a java program that will do just that. It wasn't very difficult, but time consuming. Now it is nearly complete. I just need to create a GUI for input, and input all the store data (item locations) into the virtual store (which will be very time consuming).

I don't know if my program will ever actually be put to use in a store, but it'd be good to show off to friends, and it's some good exercise for my brain. Though it wouldn't be very difficult. Just buy a piece of junk computer, a monitor, keyboard and mouse; make sure it has the Jave Runtime Environment installed, and it'd be good to go.

i hate sleep.

It's not actually the sleeping part that i don't like; just the parts before and after sleep. Before sleep i don't want to go to sleep. And when i do settle into bed, at a ridiculously late time, i can't fall asleep. I'll just lay there thinking for quite some time. Eventually i'll fall to sleep though. I normally get plenty of sleep, though sometimes interrupted. When morning comes (or when i would typically wake up), i don't want to wake up. I always want just 5 more minutes. Then i fall back asleep and wake up an hour later. And since i went to bed so late, i usually wake up after noon. Then i feel like i wasted a big part of the day. :-/

i'm not a big fan of noise.

loud noises in particular. unneccessarily loud noises if you want to be particularly particular. Unless theres a good reason for sound to be extraordinarily loud, then i don't like it. Some loud noises are okay though. Like if there's a lot of ambient noise, then it'd be alright to make things louder. Like if i can hear a car's stereo from a block away, then that bothers me. Is there any good reason to have it that loud? Wouldn't it be just as audible (if not more) at a decent volume. Sometimes i see people driving in their cars with giant woofers and all that stuff, and they have their music blasting, and it makes the paneling on the car vibrate. sort of funny. :-/

magnets are awsome.

actually, all invisible forces are awsome. Including gravity. Just the way that two seemingly ordinary objects can attract or repel is amazing to me. Gravity pulls everything together, for no apparent reason at all. It's crazy stuff. And magnets, are like 10x more amazing. You try to push them together, but you can't. But just flip 'em around, and they pull themselves together. It's like magic.

I remember when i was younger, in about 1st grade, maybe kindergarten, i rode the bus to and from school everyday. I remeber in kindergarten, i had a really mean bus driver. Though after kindergarten, my bus driver was nice. The bus i rode was the "K Kangaroo".

Anyways, i remember the one day when we were being dropped off at the bus stop, and the bus driver said that we were going to have a fire drill the next day. And i had no clue what a "fire drill" was at the time. And i somehow came to the conclusion that they were going to light the bus on fire. And i was terrified to go to school that day because i didn't want to die in some sort of firey explosion or something like that.

But i did go to school that day and discovered the meaning of "fire drill". They parked the bus in a parking lot, then we jumped out the back door. Then got back in, and went off to school. No fire involved. B-)

like i said yesterday, i just started college.

yesterday, and today we, the freshman, had these orientation thingers to go to. They were mostly just people giving speeches about the same thing over and over. Though last night, there was this one, with this crazy dude who juggled tennis balls and flaming batons and whatnot. Though he did talk about alcohol and all that stuff while he was doing it. It was pretty entertaing though.

it has come to my attention that some of the colors/skins will not diplay properly in some browsers. Particularly the 'tabbed' theme. And in the Opera browser. Due to some previous technical limitations, i could only test with Internet Explorer. I haven't tried it in firefox yet. But it works fine in IE. I validated my css, it it said it should work, so i don't know the the problem is, but i'm working on it.

I also, added a google search bar thinger at the bottom of the main page. I was thinking about creating my own search thing using php, but i decided to take the easy way out. You can use the search thing to search for something that you may be looking for on my site.

My last day of work was last Tuesday. Just a little over a week ago. It seems like such a long time ago. And when i try to recall a that happen in the last week, it seems like it went so fast. I don't know where i'm going with that, so i'll share with you all my last day of work.

Normally, i always work during the evening, because the store that i work at has a person who does my job (pushing carts / filling shelves) full time. But last week he was on vacation, so the kids who normally do that job (including myself) had to work his shift.

It was a pretty long day; 9-5, with a half-hour lunch break. I usually never work more than 5 hours during the evenings. So after about 45 minutes or so, i got most of the work that i normally do done. It's not very busy during the daytime, so that may be why. So asked my boss "What does [insert normal employee's name here] do all day?" I guess it sounded like i was implying that the guy who normally works during the day just wastes the whole day, and my boss thought it was funny. I was actually just looking for something to do, because i didn't know everything that the full-time guy did.

So i ended up helping the stock guy move skids and working out some product to the shelf. The stock guys say i'm a lot more helpful than the normal guy. Later in the day, when most of the work was done, i just relaxed in the back room. I said my farewells before i left, then... i left.

It was a pretty good last day.
