7-01-2006:
I pretty much wasted the whole day today. I woke up around 3 (PM), had some breakfast (Oreo O's are the best), then started watching TV. No show in particular, i was flipping through the channels. Eventually i came across this old robin hood movie that i started watching. I don't i was watching it because it was a good movie or anything. I figure i was watching it because i had nothing better to do. I'm sure i wouldn't find anything worthwile on the computer, so i watched the movie. I don't know if it was just me, but the movie seemed really long. I wasn't really keeping track of time, so it might've been me. Anyways, next thing i knew, it was 6 o'clock. Then after the movie, i went upstairs onto the computer. Then i came up with a brilliant idea for a game i could make. So i spent like 15 minutes with some graph paper, a ruler, a calculator and figured out how i would do the math for this game. So then i started writing a simple test program to see if the math worked. So after i finish writing it i attempt to compile it. Failure. Technical failure that is; it had nothing to do with poorly written code. ;-) So i thought it just might be an IDE problem. I closed and re-opened my IDE; still didn't work. So then i try to compile the old fashioned way, with command prompt. That failed also. So then i just gave up on compiling it. I went next door, to my room, to play some Playstation. I played 'The Challenge of the Gods' in the game "God of War". Which is an awsome game. I spent like an hour and a half on that. That 8th challenge is a real bugger. Eventually i went back on to the computer, and ended up writing this. I worry about my program tomorrow. And that was pretty much my day today. Yesterday, my city had its 4th of July fireworks. I had to work though. But i saw them, from about a mile away. I really would've liked to have been at the fireworks up close, with some family. But it's not the end of the world. I needed to work. I only had 12.5 hours this last week, which i'm upset about. But that's out of my control. This week i'm scheduled for 20 hours which makes me happy. I wish i could write something more thought provoking, but my thinker hasn't thunked in a while. I just felt like making an update to the site. Otherwise, i'd feel like i'd be letting people down. Though i don't know why. Hardly anyone ever visits here anyways, and i don't really think anyone who visits really cares what i did today. I wish i had something 'meaningful' to do over the summer. That might help to get the gears turning in my head. |

i've been having some problems with my girlfriend lately. the other day, we were driving around town, and she's like "We need to talk." So i'm like "Uh oh, this can't be good." So we pull over and get to talking. Out of no where she asks me "Are you a pedophile?". And i'm like "Pedophile?! Where'd you hear that? That's a pretty big word for a ten year old." :-D I heard that joke yesterday. That got a grin out of me. |

I changed the comment feature thing on my site a little bit. I now lists how many comments i have in the bottom right corner of this little box that this text is in. It used to just have a line that said "link/comments". Now it says "0 comments" or "1 comments". But once it gets to ten comments i don't think it'll work properly. But i don't think i'll ever get 10 comments, so no worries there. Also only the update thingers for July are like this for now. I didn't have time to edit the ones from the past yet. So if you leave a comment, then expect to get a error, though you should still be able to leave comments. The way i did it is not the most efficient or easiest way to keep track of comments. But i don't ever get comments so it doesn't have to be efficient. If you wish to end my commentless existence, all you have to do is click the link in the bottom right corner of this box. On that page it'll show my post and any comments that it has gotten. At the bottom, there's a text box where you can type up your comment. Then just click the submit button. and TA-DA! |

Today is the Fourth of July. I have to work today. Though i really don't mind it. If i wasn't working, i'd just be home, by my lonesome self, doing nothing and wasting the day. Since i work today, i can still do nothing and get holiday pay for it. |

Many sinks, in my opinion, are poorly designed. Well, not the whole sink, just the faucet. With many faucets (particularly in bathroom sinks), there isn't a whole lot of room for your hands below it where the water exits. Not vertical space (distance from faucet to drain), but horizontal space between the end of the faucet and the back of the sink. The total length of the faucet in my bathroom is less than 2.5 inches. The total length of my hand is approximately 7.5 inches. Therefore, if i'm washing my hands, i would have to close my hand some rinse off all the soap; or turn my hands at an angle. And still, my knuckles rub against the back of the sink. And while i'm on the subject of sinks, why not talk about the knobs? Most of the sinks that i use have knobs for turning on/off the hot/cold water. And unless the knob has a good texture on it, it can be difficult to turn off with wet hands. That's why i think levers are better than knobs. You don't need to grab the lever, just a simple push or a pull will do the trick. I don't really like the levers on sinks where you have to pull it up to turn on the water, and then turn it one direction for cold, and the opposite for hot. I prefer the two lever/knob method. |

Here1 is a game that i made (in .JAR format2). I call it 'Meteor Shower'. It's not totally done yet though. It's about a catastrophic meteor shower headed straight towards the great city of Pottsville. Your only chance to save the city is by using two missile lauchers at each end of the city. Simply click on the falling meteor and a missile will be launched. The missile will track its target, so you don't need to click where the meteor will be, just click the meteor and the missile will do the rest. Also, left click to lauch the missile from the left side, right click to launch the missile from the right side. Pottsville depends on you! Like i said earlier, it's not done yet. I'm probably about halfway done i would guess. This version of the game is just the basic mechanics of the game. The meteors fall like they should. The missiles go where they should. It works okay. It's not really that complicated, I just had a little trouble making the missiles always point towards their target. But that's all good now. There is a little bit of a glitch though, if the missile misses its target (by flying past it too quickly(it occasionally will)), it doesn't go like it should. I don't think it'd be that hard to fix, i just didn't feel like it.There's quite a few thing i'd like to add. Little houses and buildings that will get smashed when a meteor hits them. Your game will be over when all the buildings are destroyed. I want to have better looking explosions. A limited supply of missiles. An increasing rate of meteors as the game goes on. And of course a way of keeping score. Some stars in the sky might also look nice. I actually finished this version of the game a couple days ago, but i had some uploading problems. When i first made my .JAR file of the game with my IDE (BlueJ), its size was 243kb. So i try to upload that. But since i have an awsome old school internet connection (56k :( ), it took too long to upload and would fail. So then i try to find a way to make it smaller. So i try to create a jar with command prompt. That was a bit more complicated. I had to deal with manifest files and whatnot. I had some trouble figuring it all out. So i spend an evening trying to get. I evetually did. And the jar i created was only 6kb. And then i'm like "BlueJ is crazy with it's massive JAR's. How could it be so large?!". Well, anyways, now i know who to turn to for all my .JAR creating needs. me. not BlueJ. I also really need to download a new IDE. BlueJ is for newbs. 1 Run this file at your own risk. Don't blame me if it causes your computer to explode, or causes harm to anyone or anything. Though i don't think it will, but better safe than sorry. 2 JAR = Java ARchive. Click here for problems running it. |

a wise man once said, "To iterate is human, but to recurse is divine". With that in mind, here1 is the latest version of Meteor Shower. (even though it has nothing to do with recursion) New features include:
things to be added:
1 Disclaimer: download and/or run the jar file at your own risk... 2 if you are visually impaired. |

The counter on this website is at 999. Which means that the next person to visit this page will be my 1,000th visitor!!! I was thinking of ways that i could celebrate this milestone. I was considering giving away a big-screen TV, or a large sum of money to the one-thousandth visitor. Then i realized that i don't have either of those things. Though i am planning on making some changes to the site. Well, anyways, thanks for visiting. :-) |

I just added a new Color/skin thinger. I've named it 'modular'. Don't know why, that was just the first thing i thought of as name. I think it looks great. I've set it to the new default color. If you haven't noticed any difference, and you haven't set a color preference, then press 'Ctrl' and 'F5' simultaneously and the difference should be obvious. If you have set a color preference, and would like to see the new color, just click here and then click on the 'modular' option near the bottom. Do you like it? Hate it? Let me know what you think. You can leave a comment stating your opinion if you'd like. I'll be adding a poll after i'm done typing this, and you can inform me of your thoughts via that. But you don't have to if you don't want to. I don't really expect any feedback, but i'm bored, so i'll set up my poll anyway. |

java applets are a pain in my neck. I can do the simple "Hello World" and other simple drawing applets, but when i try to convert one of my games to an applet, it gets complicated. In the examples that i find on the web, they don't seem to have any OOP design. Well, not really; I can recognize the objects and constructors and whatnot. But it's just so different. Maybe it's just because i have little experience with applets. I went from "Hello World" to a complex animated game. I have no work tomorrow. So i'll i dedicate some time for it. For now, my thinker is fried. I got like 5 hours of sleep last night. |

Cookies are awsome. Not only are the great to eat, but they're great as other types of food too. My favorite ice creams are based on cookies. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, and Cookies 'n' Cream. Cereal is also great when combined with cookies. Two high ranking cereals for me are Oreo O's, and Cookie Crisp. I'm not exactly sure how much they actually taste like cookies, but they're good anyways. |

I pretty much walk everywhere. I walk to work. While I was in school, i would walk there every day. I don't live in a huge city or anything, but work is about a mile away maybe. But certainly no further than a mile. When i tell people that i walk walk to work, they're like "Well, that sucks." But i don't really mind it too much. I'm almost never in any sort of a hurry. Though i don't like to waste time. So, if i had a method of transportation that would get me there 3 times faster, it'd be nice. One thing i don't like about walking to work is that i have to cross a highway. It's basically a real-life version of Frogger. Though, it's at an intersection with a smaller road, so it has a redlight. The best way i've figured to cross is to stand on the corner of the intersection, and wait for the highway to get a yellow light. Then i check to make sure there's no cars close that are in the lane closest to me. Then run across. The cars on the smaller road to my back have a green turning arrow thing, so the cars coming the other way (in front of me, that would come towards me) have to wait until the arrow thing goes away until they get the green light. It's difficult to explain with words. Anyways, as i was walking home tonight, i was crossing the highway. When i got across the median, there were some cars headed towards me, two of them. They were both in the same lane, one shortly behind the other. I had to run between them, or else stand in the road and risk getting hit by a car that i didn't see. And they were going faster than the should've since they had a red light. Well, anyways, i was setting up to run between the cars. After i was comfortably sure that i wouldn't run into the back of the first car (actually it was a truck), i focused my attention to the second car. I'm running while i'm doing all this too. Well, as i was running behind the truck, i was looking at the second car, and I ran closer to truck that i expected to, and that made me a bit uncomfortable. I was probably within six inches of its bumper. And that's basically my story. Pretty unexciting ending, huh? Ya'll were probably expecting me to get hit or something. But no. |

Shampoo is evil. Today, while i was in the shower, I attempted to cleanse my hair. So i grab the shampoo (which smelled like 'pearberries' (whatever they are)) with my right hand, place a blob of it onto my left hand, and then transfer the shampoo to the top of my head. But when i did the transfer, the blob was placed off center, too far foward. That, along with some water running down my face led to disaster. The shampoo invaded my left eye, and attacked without mercy. The pain was horrible. Far worse than any torture that some evil mind could concieve. Now, I am completely blind in the left eye. But atleast i get to wear an eye patch. B-)... wait, now it's more like P-). '-D Actually, i'm not blind. Though I did get shampoo in my eye. The pain was awful. I was temporarily blinded, due to the fact the my eye was clamped shut, thanks to the terrible pain. Once i realized i had soap in my eye, i rinsed the rest of the shampoo out of my hair, and tried to cleanse it out in the shower. That didn't work all that great, so i got out of the shower, dried off a little bit, went over to the sink, and rinsed it out with handfuls of water. That worked better, but it still hurt. After a while the pain went away. But by eye was really red. It was as if I OD'd on visine. But now, like 4 hours later, the redness is about 85% gone i'd say. |

I'm not quite sure i understand the concept of gift cards. Usually a person would get you a gift card because they don't know what sort of item to buy you that you would like. Which is okay. But why would you limit a person to buy from a certain store? Why not give cash? It's like a universal gift card. Stores make tons of money off of gift cards because a lot of people don't even use them. I know that i usually don't. Or people will use them, and they'll have like 63 cents left on the card, and they say "Oh, it's only 63 cents." and they'll chuck it out the window. Or atleast into the trash. ;-) My theory is that people don't want other people to think they're rude, or uncaring or something like that. So they make it appear as though they wanted to buy you something, but didn't know what. But they must buy you something, so they get a gift card. Which is really like buying nothing. Anyways, they buy you the gift card, and they feel better because they bought you something. Though, in my opinion, I feel that giving cash as a gift is a million times better than a gift card. |
